From my personal point of view, designers as mine might hesitate to do the commercial to design the modern warfare ships due to the copyrights. We entertain ourselves by just design my national fleet then I found that there is no more ships available to work then I concentrate in other country ships like U.S. Or Japan and U.K.

Military ships are quite difficult to design due to its complex parts. It made me ten years to overcome these difficulties and Thai ship models has its own origin. NO FRAME! No structure! And it does not need complex parts but just only fold then glue only. For the scale 144, it takes only 3 days to finish it.

Reference are a big problem for ship design. I went ten time s to observe a ship, however, I got a historical experience when I educated it. Currently, my ships will soon become the souvenir on the ship.

In answer to the original question: publishing a model on a commercial basis is very expensive indeed - and there is only a very small market for these specialist ships. I learnt this to my cost with the following axample...
Some years ago I published a highly detailed model of a Landing Platform Dock of the Dutch navy - the Johan de Witt. Printed version only; go to my website zeistbouwplaten.nl, > shipping / navy, Published by Paper Trade. You will find more pictures on my Flickr collection in the album shipping and lighthouses. I got complete coöperation from Damen Shipyards in Flushings: after a phonecall the the top manager of the whole project I was sent a CDRom with all drawings needed for a perfect 3D model. The kit was designed for me by Bartek Czoclzynski of JSC. https://www.flickr.com/photos/zeist_bouwplaten/)

I sold less than 100 copies in about eight years. 200 to go before I reach break even point...

the thai carrier you designed looks great and the only thing that put me off purchasing it from you were postal costs from thailand. if it was aavalible as a paid download i would buy it for sure.i know you are making enquiries about ecardmodels and hope that works out.im sure you would have many sales for your modern ships on here

Diderick,

I have been meaning to buy a copy of Johan de Witte, but as my current position in life doesn't permit me to buy that copy, it will remain on my wish list for the foreseeable future.

There are other models on your site that I have had my eye on, but those must also wait

Rick
