Question Models by Rigby

Hi,
I'm new here but I'm not a modeler. But I do have a question. I recently came across an original 1941 Modern Models by Rigby Armed Merchantman. It's never been cut and is currently in a plastic sleeve to protect it. It is in excellent condition. Here are my questions: Do modelers collect these original uncut pieces? What is this worth? Is this something I should have framed? Thanks for your help.

I would go on Ebay to try to establish a value.

If it looks good in a frame, frame it; if it would look good as a model, build it!

Unfortunately, I tried Ebay and can't find anything comparable. Ugh!

I do not know about the value of original models but I built a model of the Rigby Armed Merchantman.
See:

My model was printed on cardstock from a scan of the original model in Rigby's Naval Craft Book.

I assume that your original model is a page which was removed from that book.

Yes, it's on what appears to be newsprint. But its very colorful. I need to figure out how to post a pic of it.

You may not be able to post a picture until you have posted ten times in the forum.

Many of the Rigby models were published in the Sunday comics.

Yes, there are people who collect this stuff. If it is an original on newsprint (like with the funnies on the backside), it has some value. If you wnat to build it, you should copy it onto light cardstock (like coverboard) and then build that. You can frame it under glass. I think unbuilt paper models are great up on the wall.

They come up from time to time on eBay, but I have never seen this one. You have something of a prize there, I think. Could be $20-$30.

Thanks Rob. It is on newsprint and the funnies are on the back. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. I won't be building it that's for sure!! :D I may sell it, I may frame it and hang it on the wall. Thanks for your input. Much appreciated!
