Paper Torpedoes
I learned this technique from U-Don when I built his IJN Midget Submarine. I've used it successfully on other projects in other scales. If you can find colored (full thickness) paper in the right color, it is even easier.
Thanks to U-Don for the idea, the photographs, and some great kits! --David

Reverse petal dome
I've been experimenting with what I call, "reverse petal" domes; I have seen these used before, the most readily known are the "ear muffs" on Uhu's marvelous 2001 One Man Space Pod.
I've found them to be a little tricky to develop my initial pattern, but because I have a strong background in traditional drafting and pattern development, it's not so bad for me. I find they are MUCH easier to build as compared to the traditional petal design. Not meaning to hijack this thread but I'm using this method for my 2005 series Dalek design (will be a bit before I can get this test built) and have redesigned the dome fronts (Bussard Collectors) to my TOS Enterprise. The Enterprise model is currently being recolored to reflect the findings of the Smithsonian restoration of the 12 foot model. Here is a screen shot of the reverse petal pattern for the Enterprise, a photo of a quick test build, and the new Enterprise domes with assembly instructions. Hope this helps! Ron Caudillo
