Paper weight

Hi guys,
Can I get some advice please on the correct paper weight to use for 1/100 scale aircraft models.
I've used 170gm and 80gm but I would be keen to know if there is an optimum weight from experience?

Nick, I’m surprised that you haven’t had a response from the 1:100 builders! I make 1/72 scale aircraft, mostly WW1. I would say 90 - 100 gsm would be about right. My card of choice at the moment is Tesco’s GoCreate card. It doesn’t delaminate easily, is very smooth, and accessible! Sainsbury’s do a similar product. Neither give the weight but my guess is about 90.
For details like engine cylinders I just use copy paper.

For 1:48 and smaller models I currently use some 86lb card. Heavier cardstock I keep for larger models .

Nothing beats just trying it out with some model .Some brands of paper are better than others.

I have built some 1/100, the paper of 80-85grs for my taste is very thin. Best result achieved with approximately 110-120grs. It also depends on the model, it is not the same a small fighter as a large bomber on the same scale. I in particular, to larger size, more weight. My choice, 100-120grs works well. I suppose the most experienced in 1/100 will respond.
