Rickstef - briliant, simple idea, most useful resource for all new and old modellers.

I think Anitas Tacky PVA Glue is more readily available in the UK/Ireland region. Possibly a better/equal substitute for the much vaunted Aleenes Tacky from across the pond. I did manage to get a dozen of the Aleenes 2oz bottles on ebay though.

UHU works for me, it's just I find it 'stringy' - when moving the tube away from the parts, the glue often remains connected by a filament between the joint and the tube - need to be careful where that falls when it snaps. It's inclined to dry quick enough but that can be as much of a help as a nuisance, depending what you're doing.

That's actually a great idea Rick. I did trawl here a lot and found many references to Aleenes. Went on line to buy some and in Ireland its almost impossible to get in the shops, I had to order mine on line through ebay UK. (At least I got it!)

Speaking of rference threads / publications - in English - I am reading Alvar Hansens book on our hobby - are you aware of others?

Thanks,
Alan

Alan,

Technically the entire forum is a reference
books are very few in number, plus they tend to be out of date or lagging behind the technology when they are published, they are good to give the 35000 foot view of the hobby, but I believe the forums, in whichever language allow you to delve into the depth and breadth of the hobby

Something like a table -
Geographic Area / Brand Name / Specific Name or Chemical type / Best use in Paper Modelling

Very true, I'm finding that the more I delve in!
