Varnishes
Hi all,
I was wondering if someone could advise me on a good matt or satin varnish with which to give a light spray over my finished models. In particular I am just finishing (and hope top post on the gallery soon) a 1/33 scale Curtis Seamew which is too big for my display cabinet, hence the need to give it some protection. Any thoughts would be gratefully received thanks. Nick |

I finish all my models with a couple of coats of gloss polyurethane & a final coat of satin or matt, the gloss adds depth & clarity to the matt, also more strength & durability. It's the same as I use on wood & get it from the local h/ware store.

Normally I use Krylon triple thick clear spray paint, but not sure you have it on the other side of the pond. I just tried Mod Podge clear acrylic spray, and I’m impressed with the super glossy finish. It is also available in matt clear, which would be better for a SeaMew.

Being in the UK can I suggest Citadel Matt Spray Varnish for you?
https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB...rity-Seal-2017 Don't let the silly name put you off. I have used it for years and it is an excellent product.

I only used 160gms paper nothing more.. Hope somebody can convince me to use it safely:-) |

To be safe, test the varnish on some colored spare parts from the model template.
