Photobucket

Hi Members, if a photo displayed in a thread on the forum is protected by PHOTOBUCKET, how do you go about seeing the image?
Regards
Owen

you should be able to click on the picture, and it will take you to photobucket to see the image

Unfortunately no.
The original poster can log in to their photobucket account and view their own images as normal, but only within their private account.
Unless they have paid for a premium account, their images will appear blurred and watermarked to them and everyone else when linked from any outside location.

Clicking on the photo generally does nothing.
If you right click and choose to "view the image in a new tab/window" you will still see the photobucket protected image.

I suggest to anyone who has a photobucket account and does not want to sign up for a premium account,
to log in to your account and download your images (if you don't already have copies).
You should then upload them to a new hosting site.

Another thing that photobucket has done to slow you down...
you used to be able to download your own albums of your own photos.
Now you are restricted to downloading single images.
And even that doesn't work sometimes.
Its easier to view an image, then right click and save.
But if you have a lot of photos to save, its a lot of frustrating work.
I know...I have done this.

Thank you all once again, it just seems strange to attach a photo or in some cases many photo's in a forum that no one can see?????

not exactly strange

a few years ago, Photobucket made a choice, and impacted a lot of online forums and sites.
If you are reading threads that were posted prior to this decision, you now see the effects of that decision, the blurred out images.

Back when P.Bucket changed their charges to exorbitant, like many others, I opted to get a download of all my pictures to make sure they weren't dumped, but unlike many, I did not close my account. So I'm now in the position of still having a FREE account and my pictures are still hosted. Under the new rules, there are hundreds more pictures than a Free account is now allowed, so I cannot post up any more. The originals are still there though and appear to be available to view in the threads.

If you cannot see them, you need to update your browsers with these add-ons to kill the overprint.

https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...flicjjgj?hl=en

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...=1579813513739

These fixes are not supplied by P.Bucket, but they worked well for me and still do. The only forum posted pictures I cannot see are those of people who closed their accounts. Their hosted originals will have been dumped, and the only way to get them is to PM the poster and hope they can still supply.

If you really need to see a watermarked out picture in a thread, pass me a link to the thread page and quote the #number of the entry. If I can see it I can capture it and pass it on, but Admin just might label this as piracy, as I'd be stealing someone else's pictures.

Well, John, I have the photobukket fix in all my browsers and still cannot see the newer blurred/watermarked images.

The fix worked for the original photobucket 3rd party link block...where you got a replacement logo image from p-bucket.
But its not fixing the the newer p-bucket block (the blurred/watermarking block).

I have some threads on my forum (with the pbucket problem) that I am trying to fix.
Tell me if you can see (and save) the images posted by milenio3 in this thread:

LOL never mind...I just updated the photobucket fixes and I can now see the images!
woohoo

Maybe it was just an older version of the fix that wasn't working.

...
In this case, I was going to save the images that I can see, and then host them myself.
I can then edit the thread and make sure all my members can see them, even without the pbucket fix.
But, even though the fix allows you to view the image, if you save it, you get the blurred/watermarked one!

...
So, as John says: install, or update your photobucket fix in your browser
and you can see the p-bucket images inthreads!

But you still can't save them.

As I am not very active nowadays, I may not have run into a "Newer" block yet Dave. I'd happily test out the affected post on your forum for you, but ... shocked you may be, but I have never got around to signing up to your forum.

Much as I really enjoy your highly detailed Design/build threads on here and learn a lot from them, 90% of your models are way too big and detailed for me to attempt them. The simpler Koolwheelz models are more my cup of tea.

Have any of your pictures on the PM forum been affected? Although, if I remember right, you did already have a paid-for trade account with P.Bucket back when it all went pear-shaped.
