I don't understand the question, mm typically indicates millimeters, and 30mm is approximately 1.2 inches. But it's not a scale in its own. If the model were 30mm and the original subject 3m, then we'd have a scale, 1:100.

Re mm Scale question
Hello ringmaster
30mm are 1:54. The scale are used for pre-20th Century miniatures. Regards Olaf |

Is "30mm" a brand of something? I'm confused

I believe Nowhere is referring to military miniatures - sized usually in mm and therefore in a scale based on the size (so 30 mm I guess is 1:54).

That makes sense now... 30mm at 1:54 scale results in 1.62m, the average height of a soldier. Military Minatures... that was the missing info.

Usually it's based on the height of an 'average man' 25mm is nominally 1:72, but the scale is flexible at best in gaming miniatures

These are pre-20th century style military miniatures? Well then, you have to factor in the hats. that would give you the extra 5mm in scale!

... the miniature scale also depends on the measurement method, eye or crown of head...
.. and the model-to-model repeatability of method. Some *cough, WotC* companies are terrible for consistency. |

Yes, according to this page and the calculations provided by Clashster and cmags 30mm is 1:54 scale, and is somewhere between S gauge and O gauge railroads.
