Question Compatibility between Metasequoia...

and/or Pepakura and 3Ds/Max: I've got a bunch of (free) 3Ds/max files, and I want to know if these files can be opened by Metasequoia (full version) an/or Pepakura Designer, before bing them...

As I am not yet (I think ) able to create a model of my own, and I wish to try creating papercrafts, I am searching a way to go from these 3Ds/Max files to PDO, PDF or JPG files.

Can anybody help me?

Thanks in advance

If they are in .3ds format, they can be imported into Metaseq. Not sure if .max (scenery save file) can though.

Just checked and only .3ds files are supported.

.max files are not supported. You would need to open them in 3DSMAX and convert to .3ds format.

Smile Thank you all mates,

for really helping hand (Stev0: Metasequoia Full is not freeware, it's shareware. But price is smaller than Google SketchUp, another "shareware", wit a $495 fee It's twice higher than MS Windows 7 Full!!!!

We have to transform "Google" in "Gogol" (maybe it's not the same in english than in french: gogol = the Dumbest of Dumb and Dumber:D:D:D:D:D:D)

Thanks all

you could always go with Blender, which is true open-source. It opens a host of object file-types. All of my models (save one) were developed in it. Exports nicely into Pepakura as well, via the .obj export. and $0 trumps any price.

I know a lot of people complain about the interface, but I have found it incredibly intuitive.

Yeah your right on the free/shareware. Note I should have known that anything with .3ds support would have strings attached. Autodesk is rather strict with it's file extensions. So far I have found that *.Max files can only be opened in 3DS Max and 3D Exploration#.

#dependent on what version the Max file is.
