Yeah like Kevin says 3M is the stuff. Probably more pricey but 100% reliable.

1mm card
I gave up trying to get useable 1mm card here in the UK, but Google will find you several UK suppliers of foamboard at 1mm - I use it for bulkheads for ships mostly. Be careful, though, I have some vinyl faced foam which is very difficult to glue. It cuts very cleanly and easily (much easier than card) and unless you are a purist is pretty useful.

Here in Canada, I go to the large magazine and comic stores. When the magazines get shipped to the store by the hundreds, they are divided up with perfect 1mm cardboard sheets. These are not the same as comic backing sheets as they are not laminated and they are aprox. double the size of a comic. For any of you fellow Canucks in Toronto or Ottawa, the 'Silver Snail' usually yields a
good supply. Hopefully the magazines get shipped the same way in the UK Ron

A warning, however. You don't want 1mm stock. When you glue the pattern layer onto the stock it becomes greater than 1mm and things don't fit correctly. Look for something, as Barry says, that comes out to be .8 or .9mm raw.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, the reason I asked was a particular model I'm interested in requires some quite thick pieces, I've been building most of the time with 200gsm paper which I can find in a shop for £10 for 100 sheets, obviously online would be cheaper but I don't have a debit card plus with delivery costs it'd probably work out the same. When I've got out a few sheets of 200gsm for printing about 5 sheets is at 2mm. Considering how many pages I have where a bit has been cut out and is now scrap, I can use those to build thickness. I'll wait until I've got some of that 3M 77 spray before I continue.
