Try guitar strings. The high-E string is normally available in gauges between 0.010 and 0.014 in 0.001 increments for acoustic strings, and down to 0.008 for electrics. It's got some good stiffness to it even at that gauge, depending on the length of the run. I recently restrung my guitar and have been using the old strings for a lot of my models.
