I can't imagine a the Spitfire pilot at the end of the film would jump in between the 109's. He would attack from behind the camera plane (but of course then he would not be on camera). Also, the German pilots don't sound like they are on the radio. I would expect at least one would be if the recorder is in the camera plane.

An obvious CGI repro probably from a game. Nice but sorry, I'll take my old gun camera videos.

If you ever watch Dogfights on The History Channel and see an episode about F-15's look at the canopies, the cross section is the wrong shape they should be circular but instead they are curved at the top and have vertical sides. Point being CGI is only as good as the guy doing it.

Fair enough.
But I think we can all agree that, inherent neatness aside, this is NOT a rare and authentic colour film of a WWII dogfight off the cliffs of Dover.

Just as a footnote, much footage from BoB that never made the screen appeared later in "Piece of Cake" and "Dark Blue World" - both pretty good productions.

Gentlemen,
I traced this back to the original web site, it appears to be an Italian movie studio, and the 109’s are defiantly the Spanish hybrid. I would have to agree with you that this is most likely out takes from BOB. However it is fun to watch! Jim Nunn

You're right Shrike, because the coast is Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters not the White Cliffs of Dover.:D

Copy from the Romano Archives website:
"German WW2 color footage from 1941. Air duel over the Cliffs of Dover between German FW190 and British Spitfires. Original Captured soundtrack of the battle and of radio communications between German fighters' airmen." Hmmm. Well, those are definitely not FW 190s, and the Spitfires are clearly later than Mk V, probably Mk IXs which didn't appear until 1942. |
