Ceramic paper knife

Hi all,

Has anyone tried one of these?
Slice™ Precision Paper Cutter - Lee Valley Tools
I was going to pick one up when I get down to a Lee Valley in a few weeks. For the price, it seemed worth a try.

Regards,
John

Yes, definitely do tell. Ceramic knives are known for holding an edge much longer than stainless steel. Could be a nice, long-lasting alternative to a standard blade. Looks like precision cutting is definitely possible if they did indeed cut out that M with it.

Looks interesting. The blade appears to be sharp, but the overall tool seems to suffer in quality control based on these mixed reviews at Amazon:

Slice Precision Cutter

It appears that Scotch makes a competitive (if not more expensive) product:

Scotch(TM) Precision Cutter 171

I'm tempted to buy both brands and have a cutting contest.....

Here's a lengthy review of it:

Slice Precision Cutter Review

According to the reviewer, it's not that great with heavier paper...

wow, those amazon reviews aren't great.

Slice version is a few bucks cheaper than the Scotch model.
Both are apparently designed for scoring and cutting "lightweight" papers.
So, does that mean "card" stocks are out?

The review paperbeam posted states "cutter for paper and lightweight card or photo paper", which is a little different than the sales pitch.

I am curious to try one.

After reading the review it looks like they're referring to card stock like a cereal box or mat board because the blade would get buried in the thickness.
