Thanks very much for sharing this find
I was a bit confused at first, until I realised that the pictures of the sheets are not thumbnails, but are the actual pictures that you print out. I suggest right-click-save-as with the name of the sheet (A, A', B, B', C, and STAND). The instructions are good, in easy-to-understand French and clear pictures. Altogether a good model. |

Much appreciated for sharing this excellent find for airship affectionado's.
I think the maker has confused their airships...I seem to recall that the Los Angeles was used for experimenting with parasite aircraft, however the internal hangar was unique to the Akron and Macon. The photo shows a Curtis XF9c2 prior to being bought inside one of the above airships, not the Los Angeles. Indeed in the reproduced photo's of the LA there is no evidence of the hangar opening. Minor historical error in otherwise excellent model. |

tingmissartoq, you're correct. The Los Angeles was used for hook-up tests with a Vought OU-1 and a Fleet N2Y before the Akron was built and it did have a trapeze attached but there was no hanger. If you wanted to remove the hanger and "clean up" the insignia under the nose it would look pretty good.

Now there is also a model of the USS Akron, one of the two flying aircraft carriers from the 30"s!

Speaking of parasite aircraft, I was surprised to learn that some of the Blimps (the larger ones I presume) actually carried Piper L-4's (I forget what the Navy designated them as!) don't know how many blimps were used this way, nor how the pilot got in and out, but there is the fact!

Wither the Shenandoah???
Now all we are missing is the Shenandoah to build!
She was the first US built Airship. The Los Angeles was built in Germany as war reparations. The Akron, then the Macon came. The Shenandoah was used to test the sparrow hawk trapeze ideas. She was also lost in a bad storm in the US Heartland. The Akron and Macon look very similar but the Shenandoah and Los Angeles were very different designs. There is already a Macon kit for sale with a hangar [check out Getter's "USS Macon" thread]. At least we have three of the US efforts in the lighter than air that wasn't to be [and we are worse for it!]. Slainte, The DC
