Iron Furnace is ready!
The Iron Furnace model is finally ready. You can read all about it and download the free kit here:
Iron Furnace | Post Orbital Design I came up with this idea as an educational aid and also for those folks needing a period structure for a 19th century model railroad. Enjoy! |

It is a very beautiful model, and brilliantly designed.
I do have a small question though. Should the zip file measure 169Mb in size? That's what my browser lists file size as, so I was curious, because it seems huge for a 1:87 HO scale model. I went for the pdf's individually in case I had somehow made an error in beginning the d-ld of the zip file. Felt I had better ask about the file size as listed though. pdf01 is a no-show. Browser says transferring info, but only blank white appears onscreen. Will await reply before proceeding further, as I suspect a computer code java script error may be responsible for the odd way pdf01 is trying to load, and the zip file measuring at 169 Mb. I saved by right-click. pdf01 is 68 Mb in size as my browser lists it. Many Thanks for a beautiful and unusual model. Kind and Respectful Regards, Uyraell. Its a very nice model, and a great write-up. The model consisting of 2 printed sheets being 169mb in 2 pdf files is causing problems on my system. After taking several minutes, Pdf-xChange viewer opened the one page 97mb file and was able to export the sheet to a 200dpi jpg with no loss of quality and the jpg is a more reasonable 560k. Even after that, the pdf file was locked open in the event spooler.exe and even rebooting the machine would not release the file. I had to go in with processexplorer.exe and kill the spooller to delete the 97mb file.
I highly recommend pdf xchange viewer. It has a "export to image" feature that will automatically make jpg images of all the pages of a pdf file and name them <filename>_001.jpg, _002.jpg, _003.jpg, ... Anyway I was able to reduce the 169mb to just under 1mb. |

Nice model!
Stan - there is a problem with Part 1 - error 109 relates sometimes to where a non Acrobat program is used to generate a PDF. But it can relate to other errors as well. Perhaps look at regenerating this file? |

Thank you Stan for the wonderful work you made and offered us.
I have great respect for those researching the past and preserving it in model form, an excelent media to reach a wide variety of audience. Rgds carlos |

I don't know of a paper model, but Walthers has a very complete (and expensive) 1:87 model of a modern steel.
