HO Scale Cargo Ship

Hello friends,

A friend just posted me this link,

Scalescenes.com - T030 Cargo Ship

It's an absolute corker of a kit and a steal at only £6.99. I've downloaded mine already. There are 19 A4 pages in pdf format and 14 pages of instructions. As well as optional parts with different liveries, it is also customisable, so you can change the name etc.

Happy modelling

Bernie

That is a "real corker"!! The customizable aspect is something you see more and more in pdf downloads. I think you will see this option more as time goes on.

Bernie,

New to the list and new to this type of modeling.

I also downloaded the kit and sent to the printer in S Scale (1/64).

Not having any experience, is this kit doable from a beginner? Or should I save the paper?

Thanks
Andrew

Thank you for posting this. I've been looking for a ship model like this for a while. This one is perfect.

Hi Andrew,
Welcome aboard. As Russ has said, just follow the instructions. I have not built this one yet, but have completed a couple of the free samples and these are excellent. They are well-engineered and accurate kits and easy to put together.
Have a go at the freebies first and see what you think, you won't be disappointed.
All the best and happy modelling
Bernie

Thanks Bernie. That is a really good tip. I only found two scales, 00 and N. Looked it up, and 00 is 1:76.2, so to get HO 1:87, you should print at 87.6 (or simply 88) percent.

The fine thing about HO 1:87 scale is that you could populate your ship with readily available crew members from the Preiser family of figures. "Steeplejacks" would do, don't you think?:

Hello gentlemen,

I love the design and the variety of Scale Scenes models. I resized the scale of the coaster down to 1:250 ...

Lovely regards

Your rescaled coaster is excellent, Wilfried.

The steeplejacks would work well for this rather modern-looking ship, Leif, but this tugboat crew would also be suitable (Preiser also produced a 1930s era ship crew, but I can't find them at present): Figure Set -- Tug Boat/Carfloat Crew - Set of 6 (590-1010052) -- Walthers Model Railroading
