Come on Don, as you've seen at IPMC, anything can be made out of paper! Sushi, plants, mechanical devices, etc!

This was a big deal on the Flyers sites a couple months back as well.

Anybody old-and-dweeby-enough may remember the abysmal Jonathon Livingston Seagull movie, where the flying sequences were all done with a slope-soaring R/C mockup built and flown by glider master Mark Miller.

More to the point, this latest marvel is nicely rendered in CF with modern CAD/CAM & 3D work, but it's pretty well-established OldSchool: we've been doing ornithopters for a long time, and this present example is an admittedly-masterful use of articulated solid structure to further mimic organic wing movement--but the principle, and most of the homework, have been done.

--In paper: hmm. Well, either the above link demonstrates it's already happened, or--okay, maybe in really-stiff paper. With a good strength/weight ratio. And a decent helping of CAD.

But would it be FUN?
