7 Zip, Peazip, are both good and effective, and free.
Also very useful are Free Rar Extract Frog, and Free Unrar. Both have a very similar drag & drop interface, or a small drop-down "choice of extraction method" menu. As their names suggest, they are free, under Creative Commons License, or similar.

I have a habit of collecting free, Open-Source Utility Programs, and have not as yet been let-down by any of them, nor had any problems in using them, or resulting from them.

I Apologise for diverting this thread to the brief software utilities discussion.

Kind and Respectful Regards my friends, Uyraell.

Thanks for the link. I got a copy.
Also;
Frog will tell you why it & others can not open a file.
If it is Just the Characters of the name, Like a few rar's I had,
Change the name and it will open.
(usually the chracters shown as blocks, "?", or "_" instead of there native script)

I Mostly prefer the older Freeware version of Alzip for Compression files,
and JustZIPit for zip files.
I do have 7Zip too though.

Some of Altools software is still freeware, but the latest versions of Alzip,
are not Shareware. You can try them for a few days, up to a month,
but then must buy a license. That is why I have other programs for compression
work too.
If an update I can not reverse takes over my Alzip, I still have a way
to open those files.
Alzip will also open other compression formats, including ACE, ISO,
etc which does make it a Very good keeper!
