Caltexdal Model Town -- complete set
I realize that I'm late in joining this forum, but I do have some info on the CALTEXDAL model town. I have a complete set of ten sheets that features the following 15 buildings:
SHEET # 1 : Caltexdal Motors SHEET # 2 : Caltexdal Hotel SHEET # 3 : Town Hall SHEET # 4 : Railway Station SHEET # 5 : Post Office and General Store SHEET # 6 : School and Cottage SHEET # 7 : Church SHEET # 8 : Police Station and Cottage SHEET # 9 : Three Cottages SHEET # 10: Homestead The models are based on buildings you would've found in a typical small South African town or village in the 1950s. The set even includes a 'tickey box' -- a phone booth which required a tickey or three pennies (2.5 cents) to make a call. I also have the original instructions that came with each sheet. I can remember getting a sheet every time my dad filled the car at our local Caltex garage. Several years ago i was given this set by and old friend of mine. The scale is about 1:50. By the way, Caltex used to be Texaco until just after WW2 when the name was changed to Caltex. I include scans of four of the buildings as they appear on the sheets. Please note: the four scans are not the actual models! Last edited by 3Turner; 08-06-2013 at 03:27 PM. Reason: remove portion to comply with forum decorum. |

Hello leokritzinger,
Thank you for this. It is good to learn the whole set, and especially good to learn that a complete set has survived. Cheers, Mike |
