I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier: CD-Roms. Include the digital files on a CD-Rom, packaged right along with the shrink-wrapped kit. Of course, that would drive the price up. Or, just sell the CD-Roms.

But, would they be professionally mass-produced (lots of $$$ to do), or burned onto CD-R discs by the museum? Does it matter?

Mass produced (like the audio CD usually are) have a longer usable life. They also cost less per piece once you go over a certain (very large) number.
I don't know if a CD would be a good idea or not - many newer laptops (which are what sells most anyway) don't have a CD-ROM unit. And the CD-ROM/DVD-ROM/whatever are so last decade anyway

I know that mass-produced CDs last way longer than CD-Rs, and they are much cheaper. But, the problem is in ordering large quantities.

I don't think they'd sell too well, either. I can't remember the last time that I bought any type of music CD, and I've switched to purchasing digital downloads of games. That's why CD-ROMs didn't dawn on me until recently. I personally only use CD-Rs & DVD-Rs only as physical backups for important programs and files.

San Salvador Galleon

Hi Scott!

Most exciting - could you perhaps provide a link to your build thread? I searched it but I couldn't find it yet.

All the best,
Bengt in Stockholm
