Coming soon-new ship site featuring USN monitors

I will soon be launching a website that will feature USN Monitors from 1862 all the way up to the turn of the century. I am hoping to do every single class, with options in each kit for every member of the class, meaning that you will be able to build any monitor that ever served in the USN. Scale will probably be 1/250, and design work has begun on the first kit, USS Monitor (of course ) which will be available for free download.

The reason I started this thread separate from my Monitor thread is I want people to evaluate the site as it's built, help me find bugs etc. The site should be online sometime in the next week or so.

I will also want a few volunteers to build the kits and report back on any errors, fit issues, design issues etc.

Cheers,

Avery

This sounds great! Looking forward to the models and heartily approve of the 1:250 scale.

Thanks Ron, Jim, for the moment yes, but I do plan on releasing lower hulls as well, at least for the civil war era boats. Not sure about some of later hulls which were more complex and might be difficult in Sketchup. Either way, they will all have the option for waterline hulls.

SOUNDS GOOD. I volunteer to assist in the beta building.

You will be educating many people. Many people think that there was only one Monitor. I look forward to you site. You will be doing a great service to the legacy of the ships and to those who served on them.

I will throw my hat in the ring for any beta-building. The one complaint I have for all existing monitor kits is the lack of weathering. Ironclads weren't pretty.
