Thank you for the very useful link, John.
The Yari will indeed be useful in various plans. Kind and Respectful Regards, Uyraell.

You keep finding interesting Northeast Asian sites, John.
I will keep these weapons in mind to equip my ashigaru. Don |

See my other recent post of a site that gives instructions how to make a full sized armor. Now if you or one of the other talented designers who frequent this site could transform that information into scalable paper models and would do for the Battle of Sekigahara what Mr Prudenzio is doing for the Battle of Agincourt, he would have a lot of grateful admirers. I can imagine a paper model of an ashigaru with a matchlock, conical helmet and scavenged half armor, and of course only one sword; also archers, spearmen and mounted and dismounted samurai. Given the number of talented Japanese designers out there I am surprised that armor models are relatively rare. |

John - I agree, although I am not one of the talented designers. Indeed, I am totally ignorant of the skill sets required to design models. But I sure would like to see the more models available of pre-Meiji Japanese armor and military equipment. Don

The problem is that few Japanese themselves now know that part of their national history.
So keen was McArthur to erase the perversion of Bushido the IJA had adopted as creedo, that he erased the genuine historical information along with the spurious. Which meant that the Japanese in effect lost vast swathes of irreplaceable history. Which results that 90% of modern Japanese would know as much about the Ancient Samurai as a modern Briton would know of preChristian Picts. Kind and Respectful Regards my friends, Uyraell.
