Xf-90 Details

I came across this page; XF while searching for something else.

An interesting set of pictures of the remains of the 2nd XF-90 prototype. Could be useful for anyone who wants to design a paper version.

A few more pix here; http://www.fluid-tech-inc.com/media/photo-gallery.html

Scott, you really bring back some memories. This was the aircraft used by the Black Hawks team -- stars of a series of comic books from the 1950s. The team wasn't exactly part of the UN, but one pilot was from the US, one from the UK, one from France, one from Sweden, and so forth. From personal experience, I can attest that the sophistication level of the adventure stories was just right for 7- or 8-year-old boys. And these comic books may well have been my very first experience with writing meant to depict foreign accents.
If any of our great designers should design this plane, the Black Hawks livery would seem to be a natural -- right up there with models of early science fiction space ships.

Scotts, thanks for the link!

Yale, agree with you. Those were the 1st planes I associated with the Black Hawks, which with the Atomic Knights, were a couple of my favorite teams in the 50s-60s comic books. Later I got into earlier versions were they were using the Grumman Skyrocket.

Just a point of inter=est, but the Original Blackhawks from WW@ flew Grumman XF5F Skyrockets, an actual plane Grumann came up with for the Navy, became the prototyope for the F7F Tigercat.
