I just picked up some very similar Wausau "Metallics Cardstock" packs from OfficeMax the other day - 10 65lb sheets for around $7 - quite a bit more expensive than what you found per sheet, but a smaller pack to play with. I got the silver and the white that looked like printing a gray on would give a nice hint of shine for a silver, and not detract from markings. I'll find something to print on it and test it out once I get my printer fixed. Maybe this Marek MiG-15 I've been meaning to print...

Great thanks for the replies!!

Wausau was one of the ones I found after deciding to get some letter sheet size samples of the following:
5 each silver cardstock 105# cover (284 gsm)
5 each gold cardstock 105# cover
2 each silver paper 81# text (120 gsm)
2 each gold paper 81# text
2 each silver transluscent vellum
total cost including shipping was $10.25

After ordering I found several more brands, wausau 110# index is high on my list so very interested in your tests!

Here are some links to others:
8 1/2 x 11 Cardstock - Silver Metallic - ActionEnvelope.com
11" x 17" Card Stock | Paperworks
Aspire Petallics Metallic Papers - Shimmer Metallic Card Stock
Metallic Card Stock Paper - Invitation, Printing, Scrapbook
Silver Card Paper - Silver Cover Stock - PAPER-PAPERS.COM

there were plenty of other choices, these are the ones I had time to check out last night.

Wow. I got some ink for my printer and am back to printing capability. (And there was much rejoicing. ::yay:: ) I tested out printing this Marek MiG-15 which has a very simple single-color light gray scheme to simulate the bare metal. On plain paper, its just that - gray. However on the metallic white paper, it gleans like metal. The effect is awesome. It's not a polished finish like RR paper was, but at small scales it's perfect. Also, unlike printing on RR paper (or likely the silver metallic paper), the color saturation of the painted parts (roundels, tail numbers, blue canopy, etc. is excellent. I like the effect so much that I may return the silver for another pack of white. Though, if I hadn't bought them both with rewards points, I'd return it outright and buy from the site Mike posted as they are cheaper by at least 2/3 there.

Not sure if these pics capture the effect properly, but here they are (metallic white page on the left, plain card on the right):

Note: the ink does smudge a little easier on the metallic paper than on the plain card, so it may be prudent to sprayseal the page. I'll have to see if the sprayseal enhances or ruins the metallic effect, or if it comes out as a wash compared to the plain card.

Which "mettalic white paper" did you get?
I found that the biggest disadvantage of using the silver mettalic papers is lack of white color for the insignia and/or markings - white mettalic paper will take care of that issue

I picked up the Wausau Metallics Cardstock White Gold 10 pack for $6.99 at my local Office Max store:

But it looks to be the same stuff as:

Pearl White Metallic Card Stock 107# - Paperandmore.com

The stuff online may be a little cooler colored (white pearl vs white gold), but looks about the same. And far cheaper.

Again, it's not a reflective/mirrored surface, so if you were trying to do a large scale polished aluminum aircraft (think: Billy's B-58 Hustler build), but the effect is nice on a smaller scale or an earlier metal craft that wasn't so highly polished.
