Great article on enlarging files in Photoshop
I found this great article on the web for enlarging files in Photoshop.
Upscaling: enlarge your images with photoshop | Designer Freelance I haven't tried it yet but it looks like a great way to enlarge and sharpen at the same time. Its intended for low rez 72 dpi files to enlarge and still have a sharp image for print. Clif |

Thanks for the interesting link. I think if I just wanted to increase a model image by only 50% I would still do as the tute says and increase+adjust to 105%. Then I would reduced it by about 33% (might have to test to be exact). I think that would give you sharper lines than if you simply increased by 50% and adjusted. I'm not on my PS computer right now, so I can't test that theory.

No, I think what it was saying is to increase by 5% intervals. So if you wanted to increase by 50%, you're going to 150% total. So you do the following:
Increase to 105% = 105% Again increase to 105% = 110% Again = 116% Again = 121% etc... Eventually (9 or 10 iterations) you'll get to close to your 150%, and you can do a final increase by a precise increment to hit your 150% exactly. Because there's not a lot of interpolation to do within a 5% increase, there is little error. This sounds like a good process.

Duh. It must have been late for me before. That makes sense. It still might be good to go a bit larger then reduce, but I guess he did mean to enlarge in small increments. I suppose you could automate that the task and do it fairly quickly.

I hadn't thought of it before but I guess you could right an "Action" script in Photoshop to do the same thing.

Should work for GIMP also.

Keep getting a 403 Permission Denied error from all links to that article - is there a trick to it? I'm starting to feel link Hogan trying to get a perk from COL Klink at Stalag 13...
