I was wondering when someone was going to post this. In the article I read, it didn't say what was going to be done with it. I hope it will remain intact and on display somewhere.

true,... 70000 pieces of lego,.. talk about ultimate collector series!,.. some other guy built a huge AT-AT with 6000+ pieces,.. you can order the parts list and instructions from him for 40bucks US,.. it is very scale,.. (or as scale as lego can get)

OK...... showing my ignorance........ Do they create their own special parts for these lego representations?
I mean I ain't ever seen any parts in my lego box that look anything like those pieces on the Firefly's engine. john |

true to the book purists. I remember back in my MOC'ing days (My own Creation), I always looked to the SHIP builders and the SNOT techniques. To get a fairly good representation using SNOT or even basic STUD takes a bunch of skill + ingenuity. I suggest you guys not only look at the model as a whole, taking in just the sheer size/ piece count. It's much more enjoyable/appreciative if you examine the engineering feat, the internal structure, the spine transitioning into the forward area (SNOT techniques), the impressionist STUD center "belly, the twin engines combining an inner STUD + outer SNOT, and arguably the most impressive part - the aft + rear engine. What a work of art! |

A pretty old post with no answer!
Just in case someone is still interested, SNOT stands for "Studs Not On Top" - in other words finding ways to build with the bricks and flipping them in the process so the smooth sides can be used! Difficult to visualise - have a look at this if you are interested........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlNkxwL1a_4
