My current problem is I can't figure out what I want to build as my first model. Unfortunately I suffer from PTSD and anxiety among other things and it makes deciding that much harder. I have found a few models that I like but I'm afraid I will really screw them up.

easy, start with models that are on one sheet

paper toys, cars, planes, whatever you are into.

then move on to the multi page stuff

ITS A PIECE OF PAPER!!!! In the worst case your first model will be an origami boulder, and you can try again.

Dear Peter:
Make a Scale Cube, there are severialin the downloads section under toys. One part to do well the score and folds need to right on and you learn howmuch glue works best. messup just have to print one page again.
Goodluck,
Miles

Frankly, the one model that I get the most requests for is the Chipmunk from Canon.
Chipmunk - Other Animals - Animals - Paper CraftCanon CREATIVE PARK

It is fairly simple, and if you don't want to keep it when you are done, you will have ZERO problem finding someone to make a home for it.

There are a lot of nuances to this hobby. I find that some folks do better at angular models and others at more organic models. This one falls into the organic category, which in my thinking also includes aircraft with tubular fuselage. Scale cubes, most buildings, and a lot of sci fi fall into the latter category. You will want to get 'acceptable' at both types.

I would also suggest doing a couple buildings, of which there are many available on the net. Then do some of AirDave's Koolwheelz models. These are fantastic for producing a nice model from simplified templates. You can find them here, Home

I get confused sometimes when trying to decide what I want to build next. If something looks like it is entry level and it interest you don't worry about it just do it. if you screw it up you tear it up and throw it away and print a new one. I still do that even the complex models. I end up building two side by side. One to practice on and the other for real. Sometimes even the practice model turns out good. I built quite a few of the Canon models and made a whole mobile for my grandson. Lots of fun

I go back and forth all the time. sometimes in the middle of a big long term project I'll do a one-nighter just to have a sense of accomplishment. sometimes I like to take a real simple model and see how much I can embellish it to make it look more complex that it really is:

I'll recommend starting with something on the simpler side also, especially if you suffer from the affliction that I have of being able to overcomplicate any project.
