This stuff is addictive

I just bought my tool set over the past weekend and have downloaded literally thousands of model files. This stuff is really addictive. I'm still trying to decide what my first model will be. I'm leaning toward an airplane because I work in the airline industry but found a few figurines that I like as well.My next day off is Thursday so that is the day I will officially start my first model.

congrats on finding a great hobby.

Only advice for a first model..............keep it simple, simpler than your thinking. And when you've finished it, or before, if you have questions, post a picture and get some advice or accolades.

Also look at how it goes together. Fewer parts does not necessarily mean easier to assemble. I'd start with something that has easy to follow instructions to start.

My name is Dave and I build paper models ...

The models at Paper Craft - Canon CREATIVE PARK have good intructions. Most are relatively easy to assemble. Give one of them a try.

I agree. I started my first build with the Alan Rose Titanic in 1980. I do't recommend that. I got her done and I still have it in my office today. But I found building model rockets teaches you a lot of different skills you will need to build the more advanced models. Start with a simple Redstone then move on to the Atlas and the Titan. Then finally the Saturn V. By then you should be able to build just about anything and you will have an impressive start to your collection. We here will be happy to teach you whatever you need help with. You can find all free.

Welcome to one of the most addictive hobbies around. I thought plastic was addictive until I was introduced to this by Ruben Andres and his Ford trimotor build. I search endlessly for models to build. Since I am now unemployed and more or less retired, I will have to find part time work so that I can afford ink and card stock. As the others have said, start with something simple and work your way up. There is a download for the Mendelejev tank that might do very well for the first one. I thoroughly enjoyed that one.
