Note how it strongly resembles an F-35. That is not a coincidence.

Most things are designed on computer these days.
If you type in similar design parameters you will end up with a similar result no matter which country you live in.

Thats why similar sized cars from different countries all look basically the same and only vary in the details.

Look at Formula 1 cars, different manufacturers, different engines, different designers but because they are restricted to certain design parameters they are visually basically the same and can lap within seconds of each other. The top 5-6 teams can lap within a few hundredths of seconds of each other.

There are only a few makes of design software out here that are capable of working at the top level. It makes sense to buy the best one available, so everyone ends up with the same or at least very similar software capabilities, and as a result end up with very similar results.

Karl's right, form follows function, look at the Russian and U.S. space shuttles almost copy of each other. And like he said F-1 cars look almost the same, and lap time in the hundredths of a second of each other from different design teams.
By the way F-1 rules!!..next weekend Austin Texas F-1!!!!! WOO HOO...Rich

Interesting design. This aircraft and the J-20 before it are part of a common platform I gather. Very interesting to see what variety of aircraft come out of this platform.

Can't wait to see a model of this, maybe someone could adapt a JSF?

On the topic of foriegn stealth jobs ... have you seen these little cuties?

Iran unveils 'Bavar 2' stealth flying boat with machine gun and camera - 28 Sept. 2010 - YouTube

We could see a lot more of them depending on how the Gulf sitution pans out.

Could make for an interesting paper model if it weren't for the exposed engines.

Johnny.

Very cool. But I wouldn't call it stealthy - that exposed engine and prop will light up like a beacon saying "I'm here". The sticky issue for the good guys is that it is high speed and can pitch up (unlike a surface craft) and add a new dimension to your targeting problem. And Iran is working on swarm tactics. These are perfect for that.

BIG Red Bull Vettel fan, but I like all the teams. Once was a NASCAR fan, but when it got big just lost me....the good-old-boy thing just pushed me out.
F-1 is soooo tech it's like NASA used to be. Just wish I had the $ to go see it in Austin but just to pricey......Rich
