Are you designing this? I wouldn't ask, but the link won't work here at school. The server blocked it. It looks awesome:D

That's cool. Like I said, the school server blocked the link. I didn't know what it went to.

Willy,
You can't see it because it is on Microsoft's Live Space, and that is what is being blocked, being a social media/networking site and all

Ok, over on the other board I promised promised in this thread Eurocopter AS350 - Zealot Hobby Forum to do a test build of Clever's Eurocopter AS350 that can be found here Clever - Windows Live and here it is
I chose to build the Military Police Version First Impressions are: -I HATE the tabs that Pepakura creates, so those will be going away -I am not sure what scale it is... maybe 1/48th? -I am wondering if Pepa can really handle all of those compound curves -I have big concerns that I'm going to have some issues with the small pieces ad my big thumbs I printed this off on some 110 LB card stock, I will be using scrap paper from a rough draft of my girlfriends last paper for her comp class. Please ignore any of the words you might see in the pictures on the joining strips, they mean nothing. I'm building this as a proof of concept only, so I am foregoing the clear parts and edge coloring. I started off with the cabin interior. I love the seat textures, but they dont quite all fit on the rear seat, so that looks a little wonky, but they LOOK like LEATHER! Next I did the engine housing and the rear of the fuse Crazy compound curves here! Gentle shaping with fingers and other round shaped things (I use a piece of aluminum tubing, glue wont stick to it) The fit here is a bit tricky, but if you get the first couple of peices lined up, the engine housing meets up perfectly with the fuse parts. Next I rolled up the tail and built the doors. you can see them here The doors are a bit tricky, but they look great! Here I have put the doors, cabin top, and tail boom onto the fuse. Again, more crazy curves and interesting fits. But really I think that it is amazing that Pepakura didn't coke and die on them during the creation. Really quite remarkable. And now with the bottom and cabin installed One thing I don't like is the lack of interior cabin walls. However I think that a little colored pencil could solve this problem easy enough. And the sort of completed model I think that at the scale it is designed at, the landing skids are way to small to support the helecopter, I couldnt even get them cut out without seeing some warping (they are a litte bit less than 1mm in width, and even with reinforcement they curl while cutting). I would reccomend using wire for them instead of paper. At a lager scale it would be very easy to reinforce them with more card and have them hold the weight of the helecopter. You will need to add weight to avoid it being tail heavy no matter how big you build it. All in all I think this s an excellent kit, and a lot easier than I initially thought it would be. Whatever you do, make your own connecting strips, DO NOT use the tabs, because they will screw up the fit something feirce I'm sure. I'm not sure how to make the cabin glass look right and still be thin enough for the windscreen at this scale. If you print it at a larger scale (maybe 1/33 or bigger) you could use traditional methods for the windscreen and cabin glass. I will be printing it out again on my large format printer and adding some custom details to it fo a future build, probably in the Brazil Navy scheme. Clever has produced an excellent kit in 3 paint schemes, and I encourage all of you helecopter lovers out there to give it a shot. |
