Piper Cub
Not built the C-47 yet but, did whip out the Piper Cub from the same site.
Very good model, enlarged it a bit (old hands and eyes) and put on some big tires i had for a bush plane look. I like it.....Rich

I also built this quite accurate model. When having it printed by the local printshop, it turned out to be 1 : 74, slightly smaller than 1 : 72. Also, I repainted it in KLM colours, see the two pictures attached.
The construction method is somewhat unorthodox, but gives a nice smooth shape to the fuselage. I didn't like having to glue two halves together with formers inside one half. You cannot control the correct position in this way, so I formed the two halves in their final shape, and then cit the two fuselage halves behind the cockpit and behind the entrance door. I closed the segments, put in the formers and asembled the three segments in a classical way. I liked the internal wheelwells very much, it gives a very realistic feeling to the model, so I'll look forward to any new model this Tokyo Club publishes. |

Thanks. The landing gear is simple but nicely printed. I only doubled the parts with thin cardboard and cut out the black spaces within the silver beams.
