Gerry Anderson Passes
Not much to say a large piece of my childhood died today
BBC News - Thunderbirds creator Gerry Anderson dies |
I own most of Gerry's shows on DVD.I grew up idolizing the models and stories that he created.I knew he was in poor health, and he will be deeply missed. Will probably watch some episodes of Thunderbirds,as my way of remembering him.

Sad news. :'-(

A sad piece of news. He was a visionary and certainly inspired a lot of us in the paper modeling community. My condolences to his family and friends, and to his legion of my fellow Fandersons.

A very sad time indeed. My father used to bring me TV21 every week,I watched all of the shows and many a loved Christmas or Birthday gift was merchandise from his many shows.
I still mourn the loss of a Lincoln Electric remote Stingray, kept lovingly in its box, which my parents gave away when I was working away from home in the 80's...Grrrrr! Gerry Anderson, together with Irwin Allen inspired the youth of a generation. |
loved everything he did. glad he's out of pain and suffering now. gladly remembered.
|
Very sad news indeed. He was the maker of great childhood dreams and memories - he was THE hero behind our hero's. God bless.

Gerry Anderson Dies - Thunderbirds Are GO!
This is sad news indeed,
I remember following 'Stingray' on Swedish TV in my early youth, and I still have the WALTON Super 8mm home movies with Thunderbirds and Stingray. My thoughts are now with his dear wife and movie-producing companion Sylvia and his son Jamie. FAB, Gerry! Bengt |
Dang! He will be missed.
|
Very sad to hear about Mr.Anderson's passing.Just this year I received the complete "Space:1999" series on DVD.I remember a very good article about him and the Supermarionation process in Starlog magazine in the 1970's.R.I.P. Gerry...you'll be missed.
|
Gerry Anderson split from Sylvia back in the 70's,it was not a happy split and Gerry had to sell the rights to most of his programmes to pay for the divorce. He did remarry however.A more in depth obituary is here Puppet-master Gerry Anderson went to war with his real Lady Penelope | Mail Online the story behind Thunderbirds I think is quite touching.
|
I think it takes a rag-tag bunch of paper model junkies (like us) to properly recognize a real loss like this. I'm glad so many here celebrate his life, contributions, and unusual artistry. A life well spent, in my judgement. What I miss, and what really hits me is that he was a model builder. Just like all of us. Goodbye, fellow modeler.

Calling Doctor Who. Please regenerate Gerry Anderson. Earth is begging you.

Some T-Bird stuff on first page, but the rest of the site is well worth exploring. It's mainly a catalogue of references to other sites, but it's well put together. Don't go there if you're a sucker for cubies .. there's hundreds of them. Johnny. |
Fristly my condolences to his family and friends. Gerry Anderson was Britains answer to Walt Disney, a man years a head of his time. a great visionary, and he will be saddly missed but his creations will live on for ever. may he rest in peace.

That full size FAB 1 was one hell of a tribute to the memory of a man who was as much a part of my growing up as my parents were. God speed, Gerry.

Along with all his T-Birds, this has been in my 'To Do' file for a long time, but for obvious reasons it rose to the top this week. Rest in peace Gerry. We'll all miss ya, man. Johnny. |
