Canon Platypus Challenge
A web site I stumbled upon, claims that Canon once posted a Platypus and presented the image below as evidence..
There is no platypus on the current Canon Creative Park web site. Does anyone here have an open source paper model platypus? Did Canon publish and then pull it? Is the model a fake Canon? |

Yes,
There was a Platypus posted on the Canon site. It was called Animals of Australia and New Zealand. Telman |

It's in the kid's section, probably before 2006, if I remember right. It went under a couple different names depending on which country/continent's version of the website you were looking at. The diorama had things like the platypus, a kangaroo, a monitor lizard. Very cartoonish, but doesn't look bad if you print it up small. You can still pull it up in Wayback Machine.

Telman: Thanks for the upload.
I think I am going to print a page of tiny Platypies (?) and scatter them around. Over time Canon's models have increased in complexity and realism, going from very simple to being some of the best designed free downloads out there. They are a wonderful resource and all the downloads I have done from them almost make me feel guilty about not having a canon printer. |

You're quite right. I've got an early version of their Leaning Tower of Pisa sitting on my bookcase that's little more than a tube of paper. The current version has details of each of the 7 balcony levels. Apparently they review the line from time to time and replace or end models.
