Kingman, Az. Boneyard video
This is a sad tribute to many of the great aircraft that many of us have built.

Cool vid. I believe I saw the Douglas B-19 in one of the group shots.

Feel the same way everytime I go near Davis-Montham AFB, the current "boneyard".

The thing of it is that they would have made more money if they had saved them than the melted metal price at that time.
Sad!

Do you realize that the scrappers at Kingman realized how unique the original b-24J "Dragon and his tail" was. They held back scrapping it until it was the only B-24 left in Kingman. It could have been had for roughly 1000.00 US. NO ONE DID. Maybe someone should have. Hindsight is 20/20 SFX |

I grew up just a few miles from the Kingman airfield and scrapyard. There were no military machines left there in my childhood. It was places like this that helped will me into my aviation career. It's still active now by private companies that break up airliners. Still a pretty cool place.

I don't believe they sold the bombers to civilians, though. would have been nive to pick up a Sterman or a Ryan though.
