There's quite a few of my designs out there on unmentionable sites, not a lot I can do about it but I guess I don't mind as long as they are still free and get credited for them

Sorry Gary, I respect your position, but...

You may not mind, but its still unauthorized copy and redistribution... aka Piracy.

Sorry but there is plenty to be done.
For one thing, complain. make it known that you don't give permission.
For the sake of every other designer here who does mind.

Submit a DMCA to the file hosts...the file will be blocked , usually in a few hours.
(I've done dozens of these...its just one email)

Doing nothing is the same as giving permission.
And, by the thinking of the thieves, if there are no complaints, it justifies sharing any and all.

the thing that intrigued me is that these were models that have been downloaded from this forum then i guess uploaded to the free site in question. So im guessing they were uploaded by a member of this forum.

There are two known pm.com members posting stuff at that russian site.
"Hymak" and "Squirrelfish" whom I have had experience with since they both posted some of my models without permission.
Hymak (in the last 24 hours) posted a bunch of stuff including another Pilsworth model and another Nobi kit.

But Gary's Mosquito (and his Bristol Belvedere) were posted by "AlexxD".
I'm not sure who that is.
Obviously another member from here though (thats my guess).

It should be noted that some models get shared (by the designers) on other forums and sites.
They could be pirated from those places too.
But some are obviously from here...like the updated Peter Zorn TriMotor and the Alan Rose DC3*.
I thought those were supposed to be exclusive to this forum?

Anyway, the point is, even free models shouldn't be copied and/or shared without first asking permission. Its that simple.

I assume a lot of stuff is pilfered from zealot forum too.

I fell victim to a scam a few years ago. I found an "ORIGINAL" Allan Rose DC-3 kit on eBay. Had a photo of the real book cover in the ad. I sent a note asking if it was an original kit, to which they answered, yes. I asked one more question, is it still in the original book form, to which came another yes. So for the $20 they were asking, I did a buy it now.
Two weeks or so later the kit shows up at my door. A copy, not an original, and letter sizes paper. Not in book form. To say the least I sent some messages to the seller who finally gave in and refunded me my money. If I recal correctly it came from a European country, don't remember which one, it was a while ago.
So here you see, these sellers know what to say and have photos of all the original artwork and built up kits.
Guess all I can say is , BUYER BEWARE!!
