Not to get anybody's hopes up, but after finishing the Transall C-160, almost finished with the Macchi MC.202, I am looking for another model to do. And a certain line at the end of the Transall page "Scheduled to be replaced by the A400M Atlas" kinda stirred something...

I gotta sort out the engines before I do anything. I've learned over time that if the fuselage is deceptively easy, then the engines will have more curves than Women's Day at the Indy 500.

looking at fuselage shape and freebie model out there i would say fuselage will be the issue with this beastie.only the raf female pilot who flew it out here had more curves than the aircraft

I was gonna mention the inverse, that if the engines are easy, then the fuselage will give a supermodel a run for her money.

Oooh sorry Herky .... I'll go wash my mouth out.

RAF Herks fly low up my valley several times a week. Dunno if it's just low fly practice or they are actually delivering stuff, but whatever it is I've only seen one Atlas on the run, and it didn't fly anywhere near as low as the Herkybirds do. They visibly pull up to avoid my chimney.

hercs are like dakotas, the only replacement for an old herc is a newer one imho. However it seems they are being pushed by airbus as the alternative and lots of airforces are going with them.Cant see the US doing it as Lockheed i think will benefit from protectionist policies which i think we will see under their new government and boeing have nothing to offer. Our goveernment is looking to replace our 5 hercs which were in service when i joined up in 1975 and it wouldnt suprise me if they go for the a400s but we will see
