There was a mention in one of the threads about this site/publisher.

The two publishers of the models are Robert Navatril, and Pavel Bestr

They produced a line of simple models, and a couple of models of increasing difficulty.

Their models were produced by Parodia, and Betexa.

The models range from simple two page kits to multiple page kits, like the Corsair and USS Gambier Bay

I have not seen any of the weapons they showcase released by Parodia or Betexa.

A link to their site, if anyone is interested;
Paper Models & Colouring Books - The newest models
There are a number of free models available on the site, if you want to "test them out".

Gentlemen,

did anyone try to purchase a kit from them? Having paid for their Yak-1 through PayPal, I have not heard from them for a week. No reply to my 2 requests both through their contact form and to [email protected]

Leif Ohlsson 03-24-2009 02:38 AM

Must be a recent problem. Both me and Chris (cjwalas) got our Po-2 quick as lighting. I used PayPal & credit card. Seemed very much like an automatic process. But that was a couple of weeks ago. - L.

GreMir 03-24-2009 04:14 AM

After I placed my order I expected some type of confirmation/notification but nothing materialized. After waiting two days I kind of stumbled onto their "Downloads" page and to my surprise links to download my models were there....

cjwalas 03-24-2009 06:42 AM

The site could use better clarification on their process. I've ordered twice from them and it was, as Leif states, quick as lightening. Your order immediately appears in the download section; I don't think there's any notification of it. I seem to remember being confused as well on my first order.
Chris

mgolovanov 03-24-2009 09:14 AM

OK thanks

It looks like I managed to pay without registration - I did just go to checkout directly from the shopping cart. I can not remember if it asked me for something like login / password - but I have not received any registration confirmation / credentials afterwards.

So no login and hence no way to downloads... I have to wait for their response

Leif Ohlsson 03-24-2009 12:51 PM

OK, I checked and understand your problem. The "Downloads" menu doesn't appear until you are logged in. You get logged in by filling in the "Register" form. Then you get an email with a confirmation code (automatic process).

Then you can log in and make your lightning quick, automatic purchase.

But you have already paid, without being registered, if I understand it correctly. How about registering under the name, email, and other info you used to make the payment, and then log in to check if there might be a download waiting? You never know...

Hope it works out, one way or the other.

Leif

mgolovanov 03-24-2009 11:49 PM

Thanks Olaf, will try

I did just purchase Po-2 - again without registration. This time, however, I have carefully navigated back to bestpapermodels from the payPal payment confirmation page - and had "Download" link in the left side menu. This time I was able to download

As I understand now, previously I just had not navigated back to bestpapermodels - I thought that once the payment went, I would receive some notification or download link or something from them. There was no clear explanation that I MUST return back to be able to download. Obvious miss in ruling a user

PS. Registered under the same e-Mail as at PayPal - but still "Nothing to download."

Nemesis7485 03-25-2009 06:58 PM

You're probably right, mgolovanov. Many sites, including my own, require you to return to the originating site after entering PayPal before your order will register on the database. In most cases PayPal will automatically redirect you back after completing the transaction.

If you received no download link after your first purchase, trying to find it after registering will not help as your order simply didn't register on the site. It would probably be best if you send them your PayPal transaction ID# and also suggest they set up their PayPal system to auto return customers back to the store after completion of payment.

Sent twice - no response. I did file a claim with PayPal - they did not respond to PayPal requests as well. Eventually PayPal has refunded my payment:

Their irresponsibility seems to be frustrating. Do not forget to return back & download!

Nemesis7485 04-22-2009 03:27 AM

Glad to hear you got your money back eventually and that PayPal works as a good insurance.

I too have placed an order, paid for FIVE models 18 Euros ($AU 33.47) on April 20. Since then NO answer to e-mails and NO models appearing for download.

Am I correct in assuming these guys are rip-off merchants?

GreMir 04-24-2009 05:50 PM

Roger,
They do have rather unusuall way to perform business, but they appear to be legitimate.
If you placed and paid for an order without registering, then most likely you will have to take the same route as mgolovanov.
My story:
I placed an order without registering and then changed my mind about one of the models. System would not let me delete it claiming that it was not my order...
Then I noticed the registration button so I did register with them and placed new order and pay for it.
I waited two days for some type of confiramtion message but nothing ever came. Finally I went back to their website, logged in and navigate to Download page - surprise, my models were waiting for me...

RogerP 04-24-2009 07:02 PM

Thanks Michael (GreMir),

I did register before placing the order, it was the only way the site let me in to actually place an order. I have checked the 'download' section (after logging on of course) every day since placing the order and NOTHING appears.

I'll give them until after the weekend to respond then I'll be seeking a refund through paypal.

Roger.

GreMir 04-24-2009 08:33 PM

They also have this "download now, pay later" button - did you try that?
When they ask for payment you can send them screen shot of your PayPal transaction or just the transaction number. Maybe this will get their attention that something is off with their ordering process....

RogerP 04-25-2009 12:40 AM

Michael, I just tried the 'download - pay later' option, but it has asked me to pay again.................no thanks.

Anyway I have already decided to give these guys a very big miss and launch an attempt to get my money back.

Roger.

avro202 05-01-2009 09:23 PM

Well, Ive have the opposite problem. I saw that download now, pay later thing and tried it out. Got the download, but then I had a hiccup with my paypal account, that still isnt ironed out. So basically I got a free model...

Odd, this happened weeks ago and I left a message on the site asking for help. Guess they dont want my money. Seems like nobody's home over there.

Oh oh, I just went back to the Bestpapermodels site to see if I could get paypal to work...the site appears to be down. I get nothing but a blank page. I hope they arent gone for good...I haddnt downloaded all there freebies yet!

avro202 05-02-2009 06:58 AM

Bestpapermodels site seems to be up and running now. Guess it was just down for a couple hours.

ramatoto 07-29-2009 07:57 AM

Whatīs up with Bestpapermodels? Last week i haver ordered a model, payment via PayPal was no problem at all, but...i am still waiting for a download link.

Three mails, no answer....

I have bought some models there in the past without any problem, a few minutes after payment i got the downloadlinks, but now?

It seems to me, that they are out of bussiness, but the website is still running.....

avro202 07-30-2009 10:40 AM

I had a similar problem. Just yesterday I finaly got my paypal account sorted out, so I went to BestPaperModels and ordered 5(!) models. Well, the site took my money and I got the little "Download" buttons, but when I clicked on them, nothing happend. Now my "Downloads" area is empty and I"m out a fair amount of cash.

Tried to use the comments and problems box and leave a message, but so far no response.

I wish there was a way to email this guy directly.

elliott 07-30-2009 11:43 AM

The Contact Us link at the bottom of each page lists

[email protected] and
[email protected].

Has anyone emailing writing them and using a translator to convert the emails to Czech?

Or how about snail mailing them? Snail mail addresses are on the same page.

Just a thought.

Good luck.

avro202 07-30-2009 12:27 PM

I must have missed that. Thanks! I"m going to email them right now.

jimkrauzlis 07-30-2009 01:00 PM

I don't get the way this site works....

I paid for the models, am registered and therefore when I selected the "download" I see the "links" for downloading the model. Only problem is when I clicked on "download" nothing happens except the "download" link disappears! I made sure I didn't have the pop-up blocker on, but the only thing clicking on the download link does is erase the link!

There's got to be an explanation and solution to this! The transaction may be lightening quick, but it's all for naught if you don't get what you paid for!

Why can't ALL the sites work as nicely as Chris' ECardmodel site does???

Cheers!
Jim

avro202 07-30-2009 01:29 PM

Thats Exactly what happened to me. The site took my $, then gave me some little Download buttons. I clicked the buttons and nothing happened, except that the buttons went away.

I have now sent off an email to both the guys listed on the site. I send them a copy of my paypal reciept and a list of the models I was trying to download.

I"ll keep you informed of what (if anything) happens.

jimkrauzlis 07-30-2009 01:48 PM

You would think by now they would have realized there is a problem with their download procedure or links!

I sent them a message on the contact page, requesting that they send me the model files by email.

I, too, will let you know if anything happens.

Cheers!
Jim

The only solution for those having paid and not provided with download links is filing a refund claim with PayPal - your money most likely still there

jimkrauzlis 07-30-2009 04:42 PM

Yes, that's the route I am unfortunately forced to take.

I think my earlier message to them using the webpage contact got through, they re-posted the link tab, but, once again, clicking the link tab for downloads did nothing...the free download tabs work fine, so I think there's a glich in their automatic download link tabs.

Time will tell whether they fix it and respond to my emails.

Cheers!
Jim

Best paper models

Hello again from OZ,

They continuously ignored my emails as well as those from paypal and after three weeks I think it was, after filing my refund request with paypal, I received my refund.

Anyone else who has paid for kits and NOT received same, I strongly suggest you claim a refund through paypal then give these guys a BIG MISS.

Cheers,
Roger.

Zathros 07-30-2009 08:05 PM

My identity was stolen through Paypal. I ordered 3 variable resistors from a company using my Mastercard Account and that site somehow was hacked (really big electronics supplier) and a guy opened a Paypal account in my name in Brazil and ordered $6000.00 dollars worth of audio equipment in 3 hours. My bank stopped the transactions and made Paypal reimburse the money. The bank immediately credited my account for the drafts. I have never had a Paypal account. Never will.

If a company deals with Paypal and that's the way they collect their fee I will not do business with them. Paypal treated me like crap when I tried to find out why they were sending me all these e-mails saying I had made purchases in Brazil. My bank straightened the whole situation out. Paypal hindered the whole process. Just a warning.

ramatoto 07-30-2009 10:34 PM

In this case, i donīt think it is a Pay-Pal problem. I seems like a Bestpapermodels homemade problem....

I have tried all mail adresses, more than once, and no reply at all.

Wyvern 07-31-2009 11:09 AM

Thought I'd throw my two cents' worth in: as a former billing dispute specialist with a huge int'l bank, my advice would be to forget trying to recover through Paypal, except to send them a notice. Try opening a billing dispute with your credit card (where the Paypal charge posts) for "Internet Transaction-Merchandise Not Received". Your credit card company will take the issue up with Paypal and the seller's bank of deposit. In many instances, your credit card company may credit your account immediately while the dispute is investigated.

Good luck.

avro202 07-31-2009 06:18 PM

But, but....I dont want my money back; I want my models!

dansls1 07-31-2009 06:22 PM

Everybody I know sets up paypal linked to a limited-funds account (separate bank account with no normal balance or extremely low limit cc), so that it's unlikely there is every any significant value available through paypal even if the account details are known - seems to prevent that sort of thing.
Would be nice if somebody were able to get an answer - it seems likely to be a computer glitch of some sort here causing the issues.

Speaks volumes of Paypal. They were the ones who authorized the use of my Mastercard in Brazil. As posted earlier, my bank People's Bank of Connecticut, took care of the whole issue and did in fact credit me instantly.
(I say authorized use of my Mastercard as that is where the bills appeared, Paypal processed the sales, and had to pay for them too. Some creep in Brazil has a whole new audio video system thanks to Paypal).

If I am being off topic, I apologize, I just hate to see people get ripped off and Paypal is horrible to deal with. They treat you like you are the thief.

Ivan Panaev 08-19-2009 06:28 AM

Hello comrades!
I have the same problem with bestpaermodels.com. 2 weeks ago I ordered M4A3E8 and M4A3(76)W HVSS Sherman tanks and paid for the models. Download buttons in my downloads' sections were inactive. Then i tried "download now and pay later" option - no result. I sent e-mail to Robert and Paul. They refreshed the download buttons. Again, download buttons are inactive. Something strange is going on. Last time i (successfully) bought models - in June - everything was OK. So i hope Paul and Robert will solve the problem. We will live we will see...

ramatoto 08-19-2009 07:56 AM

Hi guys,

good news to me, iīve got my money back - from PayPal....

I donīt know, whatīs going on at Bestpapermodels, but if they keep it this way, there will be no real future to them....

avro202 08-28-2009 03:04 PM

Well, after I emailed them, my download buttons re-appeared, but when I click on them, I still get nothing. Its exactly the same as before; they dissapear but you dont get a downloaded file. Looks like all they did was to re-set them.

So, I sent them Another message in the website comment box, detailing the problem (again) and specifically telling them that they have to check to see if the download buttons actually work, not just to reset them. I also said I wanted to buy more of there products but wouldnt until the download problem was fixed; some more motivation for them.

Well will see what, if anything, happens now.

jimkrauzlis 08-29-2009 07:48 AM

Having received no replies to my emails to the web site I was resigned to go the route of a claim in PayPal, and was recently advised of a favorable decision...I rather doubt the web owners even replied to the dispute and claim. Sad, really, those look like some marvelous models, I really wanted them.:(

I wish you luck Avro, but I am afraid you will have no alternative but to file a dispute with PayPal and get a refund...sort of makes you wonder what they are thinking over there at "bestpapermodel."

Cheers!
Jim

avro202 08-29-2009 08:22 AM

It is odd...

Its not like the website is abandoned; in fact a new model was just added. So things are happening. I refuse to give up hope!
