Story of the ship:-
MV Queen of the Isles
Oh! - and look what just happens to be sitting on my desk at the moment - with a book mark in the plans page.

That's good.

Which shows he benefit of taking the trouble to find the correct link to a resource AND QUOTING THE URL for other peoples' benefit when making a post.*

And I'm sure that Mr. Hathaway will be delighted to see your build thread. As will we all.

* PS that's a generalised comment - nothing personal to anyone.

I am very pleased to see that people found the link to the Queen of the Isles model without me having to announce it more formally! There is also a new model of a small automated lightfloat that may be of interest.

Many people have asked me why I made the Queen of the Isles model available for free and the answer is partly the book that Maurice included a picture of. When I was thinking about designing my own models I found 2 books in my local library, both by Geoffrey Deason - "Cardboard Engineering" and "Cardboard Ship Models". Both really inspired me to try my hand at creating models and gave me numerous hints and tips. The first book featured a model of the Scillonian II and the second a model of the Queen of the Isles. I released my own model of the Scillonian II several years ago and finally released my Queen of the Isles model this year, having been working on it for over 11 years!

The Queen of the Isles is a free model as my way of saying "Thank you" to Geoffrey Deason for inspiring me via his books - and also as my way of hopefully inspiring a new generation of card modellers.

Hope you all enjoy the model

David

Been building a few of the other free down loads:

Queen of the isles 1;250-100_0749.jpg

Quite handy as light relief builds from the Lysander

Looking forward to getting a copy of this badboy though:
