The morning paper on my country also mention deliberate descent at landing rate (900-1200 m/s), I think BBC had released airspeed and descent rate graph of the accident

[QUOTE=Kevin WS;479205]Flightsimmer - I am not questioning what other people/recorder said. I am merely adding the "information" about the alleged "cry". And commenting this may be hearsay - as I did not pick up the comment anywhere else.

You now also indicate the actual CVR detail ("fact") has been released. Do you have a link to it? Would like to see it.....

--------------

No, I am not researching the Helderberg. The facts around the actual causes of the fire remain murky. And some key records remain unavailable, which renders any research here meaningless - unless one is going to push yet another conspiracy theory. But if you have an extra information snippet over and above the theories (along with sources) I would be grateful for it in a PM.

One of the issues here is the official documentation - the fact that thhere has been more then one enquiry is very very telling - the facts are not yet in or fully available.

I am researching a far less "dramatic" event, where on visiting the crash site I picked up on something that puzzled me. Full records are available so it is just a question in this case of delving further into the events leading up to the actual cause (the latter not being in dispute).

There are incidentally many other interesting cases in South Africa where the cause was unclear to a degree - especially dating from the pre war years.

Crash investigations can only deal with FACTS - in the areas of cause these often fall short just because some information, especially related to human behaviour, is just not (and never will) be known. For instance Helederberg crashed due to a fire. Fact. But there are no facts (currently available) that definitely indicate the cause of the fire. There are further no facts currently available, that account for the behaviour of the aircrew at the time and why they did why they did.

All these areas will remain supposition or theory, unless futher information of a reliable natuure comes up. and given the nature of the control on documents back then, this is unlikely. Probably a umber of the key documents no lnger exist. The fact there was a second (relatively inconclusive) enquiry speaks volumes!

NY Times

and the Telegraph

Why did Germanwings Airbus A320 crash? - Telegraph

Both measured accounts.

The daily telegraph report was from 3 days ago and has not been mentioned anywhere else since then.As a direct result of this incident Air New Zealand along with Easyjet in Uk and others have announced 'Two people in cockpit at all time policy''If one of the pilots leaves the cockpit for any reason they are replaced by a member of cabin crew so there are always two crew on flightdeck.Of course one could argue that if airlines had kept three man flight crews these incidents<And have been two others that i know of>could not happen

You're right. Saving money is more important than safety...what a shame!
