Tintin Moon Rocket

Just a reminder about a classic model

• Afficher le sujet - [BD] Fusée de Tintin

There is a link to the hard to find Tintin Rocket to the Moon on this page of the French paper model forum.

There is another version of the model here

Thanks for the link. Seems to be an interesting model. I'm not normally into space modeling but this may be an exception.

Hope future vintage SF builders will have look at my mainly informative page on my site: - Zeist Bouwplaten - Import, verkoop, ontwerp en productie van papieren schaalmodellen, maquettes en bouwplaten (cardmodels), Modelbouw, Rietveld cutoutmodels, > Early SF

Jason Sutton, designer of the excellent Tintin moon rocket had to remove this (free) model from the internet: The Tintin publishers and copyright holders are very active, and threatened serious legal action. He kindly gave me the file privately. I am still planning to build the version with open hatches and inside lighting...

Tintin moon rocket - oh yes, oh yes, oh yes. Another piece of my childhood in paper. I loved the 2 part moon Tintin story - I think I might still have the books somewhere. Looks a complex build, but it's now downloaded and added to the (neverending) 'to do' list.

Ah! That's mine, allright! The original model is about 1/144 but I enlarged it to be 1/96 to fit with the rest of my rockets.

Here's the blog page I did on it.

It has four lights in the cargo bay, two in the operating room next to it and one in the side door hall. The electronics lay on top of the cargo bay ceiling. I can't remember which resistors I had to use but all went together like a piece of cake.

I put the battery in one of the leg 'teardrops'. The wires go through the wing to the central core. Inside the teardrop I placed a card cylinder over which another one could be shoved, very tightly, so the foot of the rocket would stay attached to the wing while still holding a 9V battery.

Jason Sutton used a compass to get the rounded shapes of the parts correct but I just cut it all by hand and it all went together fine.

So, if this file was removed from the net
and cannot be shared by order of the TinTin owners,
then who is now sharing the model and do they have any permissions?

And why reveal that someone shared with you a file that they were ordered not to share?
Privately or not, you are incriminating them.
