The Hartmann 1529 Crucifix/sundial (300dpi)
The Hartmann 1529 Crucifix/sundial (300dpi)
This is by far the best digital version I've seen on the web of the famous 1529 crucifix/sundial paper model by Georg Hartmann. The crucifix prints clearly at 16X6,7cm (6.3X2.6 inches). Which is around 45% or so of the size of the original engraving that is located at Germanic Museum in Nuremberg. The lineart is much clearer than many versions found on other sites but the smaller numbers of the dial are still blurry. Follow this link, and download "original file". The template is attached to a photo of the build model. If you wish to print and build it you'll have to crop it. File dimensions: 2,190 × 1,896 pixels, (790 X 1896 when cropped) file size: 2.09 MB https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/F...004%2C_s12.jpg

Hartmann Crucifix
Thankyou for this link Ruben.
I printed it as an 8" x 10" photo and the finished model came out at 6.6cm across the base and 10cm high. It's nice to have the very first paper model - even as a mini-copy! Many thanks again. Rob |

Very nice. The photo looks like it has a sepia tone rather than bright white. Is that a trick of the light, or did you print it on colored paper?

Trick o' the light
No, it is just a trick of the desk lamp light!
It's just printed on white card 190gsm - nothing fancy! Rob |
