Venice built for galley wargame in 1:700

Here are the 1757 buildings of Venice in a galley wargame,

The buildings have been textured using Gimp and scaled down to about 1:700. The 35 buildings were fitted onto two A4 sheets, and printed twice on 80gsm paper. As is my habit, once graphically enhanced and assembled, the 70 paper shells were stiffened with cereal box formers. I did not have time to build masonary squares and alleys or the bridges, so placed the buildings directly, if somewhat randomly, on the "lagoon".

In the distance a 13 ship fleet of the Holy League is counter-attacking a 14 ship Turkish fleet blockading the Lido. In the previous game the Turks had routed the Christian fleet that had then fled in panic back to Venice. The Christians won this, the next and final game decisively, sinking one and capturing 5 Turkish galleys, for the loss of one galley captured. The battle concluded our Mediterranean naval campaign. Gaming will resume in France 1940.

Looks like 15mm buildings. There are also some pages with water for the canals.

There is some other interesting information on the site. Use the navigation arrows at the bottom of the page.

You can build a personal urban plan as you prefer. You have water canals, squares and "calli" in the first set to compose your own Venezia in Canaletto's style.
Be creative and send us a picture of the result!
Cheers.
Oonirico.
