Decoupage Bonaparte Crossing the Alps

Bonaparte *~2010-06-24 - 3D Decoupage - ArtCanon CREATIVE PARK

I like this original painting very much and it has much symbolism in the details with the names of Charles the Main and Hannibal, etc.

Of course they have no painting of the withdrawl from the Moscow

Famous painting by David. There are paintings around about the retreat but I only have some grainey ones in B/W.

OK, Liliane and Fred Funcken put out several sets of books, originally in French. I have "L'Uniforme et les Armes des Soldats de la Guerre en Dentelle," a two volume set basically covering the 7 years war period. They also did a set on Napoleonic period uniforms and another on earlier costumes (not really uniforms because actual uniforms really did not occur in Europe until the beginning of the 18th century).

Anyway, these books also appear in English although I don't know why anyone would bother since we all should read French (OK, slap me). If you love uniforms of the period this is a great start.

Canon is really churning them out lately. I really like that Napoleon Bonaparte very much, also the Mona Lisa. I just wish they weren't split in half to be glued together across the middle.

Oh I know there are paintings. It was a joke as in the real crossing of the Alps, Napoleon he cross on a donkey and not Marengo! There is no way to depict the retreat with glory.

Lala, maybe you will also like this ... the same painting, formed in a rice paddy by carefully planting different kinds of rice. You can find other similar images here.

As summer progresses, crops of rice paddy art are beginning to emerge in Japan. The crop art — created by strategically arranging and growing different colors of rice plants — can be seen in farming communities across the country. The largest and finest work is grown in the Aomori prefecture village of Inakadate, which has earned a reputation for its agricultural artistry. This year (2009), the enormous pictures of Napoleon and a Sengoku-period warrior, both on horseback, are visible in a pair of fields adjacent to the town hall there.

odd that they call it decoupage....?

this art form has been around for centuries
its known as "Paper Tole"

3D layering of paper images/artwork

whereas "decoupage" is 2 dimensional glueing of paper pieces onto a suface

yes, I know...a little picky
but I'm an artist....we're a little anal sometimes!
