Alexander Bondar - Wolseley Armoured Car

Another very obscure armoured car - the Wolseley armoured car was built on a Wolseley truck chassis. It was funded by public subscription when it was believed Britain may be invaded in 1914. Although invasion fears faded there were sufficient funds to build two armoured cars. Both of these were ready for service by October 1915. Since there was no role for armoured cars on the Western front they were sent to the Middle East. Their service history and ultimate fate are unknown.

The Wolseley armoured cars are very similar to the Japanese Sumida armoured cars which were built on Wolseley truck chassis in the 1920s.

Regards,

Charlie
