Wayne McCullough 1:48 Canon de 155 L Mle 1917 GPF
For those who wanted something appropriate for Wayne's Schneider CD to tow - a model of the 155mm GPF heavy field gun.
This gun, arguably, was the best heavy field gun of WW1. It was adopted by the US Army and a modified gun (lengthened barrel) on a new wheeled carriage saw service in WW2 and Korea as the M1 Long Tom. The 155mm GPF saw service in the French Army until WW2 and then captured guns were used extensively by the Wehrmacht. Usual place: Landships II Regards, Charlie |

Thanks. Just this morning I was thinking that I hadn't seen a build update for quite a while. Suddenly, a puff of green smoke, and what should appear? Marvelous.

These are good kits to build. 1:48 is quite a nice scale to build in.
Just finishing off his Schneider tractor usit to go with this gun. Tim |

Just to encourage people to think about building the GPF model....
The original manual is on line for this gun at: Règlement de manoeuvre de l'artillerie. Titre Vh, Description et entretien du matériel et des munitions de 155 G. P. F. / Ministère de la guerre | Gallica It has many drawings of the equipment and what the projectiles looked like for diorama makers. I have a set of the drawings which have been processed to get rid of the brown "foxing" of the old paper and enhanced somewhat - just drop me a PM if you want a set. Regards, Charlie |
