Piracy is inevitable. It is a lost fight. "If you can't win'em, join'em!" No other solution....period. The rest is waste of time and energy. If anybody out there disagree with piracy, well, just don't download the models. As stated before, there is nothing else to do.

Sorry...but I WILL NOT give in, and join them.
You are suggesting we become thieves because (in your mind) we can't fight thieves? Thats ridiculous. I will not allow someone to take my property and my profits without a fight. Thats just cowardly. And, if possible, I will not allow it to happen to other designers. Its good that you let me know that you are okay with piracy because its "inevitable".

[QUOTE=airdave;614416]Sorry...but I WILL NOT give in, and join them.
You are suggesting we become thieves because (in your mind) we can't fight thieves? I NEVER, NEVER suggested that, Curiously enough you don't mention that piracy exists because a) technology allows it very easily and b) In many occasions, the original model, movie, software or whatever, is EXTREMELY expensive and many people cannot afford it. Case in point: Adobe Photoshop costs over 300 dollars. Just check YouTube, a LEGAL social network, and you will find that there are several ways of downloading and cracking this and many other very expensive software. If companies wouldn't want to profit so much and instead, increase sales, piracy will go down. As for card models, postage has become so expensive, that in many cases people from several distant countries cannot buy physical models. Even here in America, postage is extremely high. Yes, there are several web pages selling card models to be printed at home but there are several models only sold in physical. I'm not justifying piracy, I am just trying to explain why it exists and why there's nothing to be done to exterminate it. |

Access to technology is no excuse for lack of moral behavior.
Following your logic, there's nothing to be done if using available technology I decide to track someone and kill him, or his daughter, or his ex-wife. And all of you would just have to deal with it, and accept that it happens, and join me in killing others. And there are ways authorities and the society have to stop and/or punish someone who tracks down and kills other people. Despite technology. A certain amount of respect for the other people, and some sense of morality prevents everyone killing everyone else. And also makes some people realize how important intellectual rand property rights are, whether we talk about a U$5 paper kit, a U$300 Photoshop, or a U$500k Ferrari. Despite having technology to steal them all. So, there are things that can be done. And it can begin with a proper education within the family teaching proper values to children from a young age. Unfortunately, some people have never received such good examples at home.

[QUOTE=RickPink65;614429]yes you did.
you said ""If you can't win'em, join'em!"" a rough version of "if you can't beat them, join them", but I got the point. Piracy doesn't exist because technology makes it easy. What a ridiculous thing to say. Piracy exists because humans are greedy and cheap and feel entitled. It sounds to me like you are another human trying to justify their own actions and activities. You aren't one of those are you? Obviously you would be unhappy if someone stole directly from your bank account? So what if I just copy your products and sell them cheaper, so you don't make any money? You feel justified to steal Photoshop, just because its too expensive for you? That...is theft. Plain and simple. And, then you want to use pirated photoshop to edit your pirated paper models? lol Yours is not an explanation of why piracy exists. Yours IS an attempt to justify piracy.

Piracy IS INEVITABLE. Governments and other authorities CANNOT AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING TO STOP IT. We just have to live with it and......naturally, DON'T PROMOTE IT.

Politics are a non-no...I thought we were talking about paper model piracy? People can, and are, able to stop it. You, could stop it. Yours is not an explanation of why piracy exists. Yours IS an attempt to justify piracy.
