You would be surprised how many of those models disappear after a while or get hard to find. I had someone ask me for my Mizourigaken collection, 200 megs of models, won't ever do that again.

The problem would be????

Better to download it now and then building it later then to search for it later only to find that the site has gone down or the artist has removed it.

It's happened many times before.

That is exactly the reasoning I use, Stev0.

Youngest son, Don3, sez: "It is the ability to rationalize that differentiates humans from other animals."

Yep...it's the internet, not the organisednet...I guess I have some 2000+ in my stash and that just the ones I like, not even a small % of what is actually available...

If anyone is interested, I use Collectorz.com Book Collector software to manage it all as I soon got lost in my file directories...some of the field names from book collecting don't quite translate over but it still makes findings something way easier than trawling through a bunch of folders...

"HE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS WINS!"

Its a rule!!
its not about whether you build 'em, or play with 'em,
or even look at 'em for that matter!

its just about the numbers!! MWAAHAHAHA!

Gee, it isn't aproblem unless the old hard drive crashes, maybe that is why I have two back up drives.

When I went out in search of my latest computer I made sure to get at least a terrabyte of HD space for just such things. You never know where your fancy may take you when it comes to model building and it is always nice to have a wide variety of stuff to tinker at.:D

Well ... if you take a look at 浜永の特選ペーパークラフト you will notice that there are many dead links.

A good example of how one should grab it now so that they can build later.

On a side note. It's a great idea to keep a record of the designer and provider/link to the model when you download it. So if the model is gone and you decide to build it, you can give credit to the designer instead of this...

"I'm building an Mini from someone I can't remember who because I downloaded it a couple of years ago and forgot the link"

It helps.

I have 3 external and 2 internal drives and these are partitioned. My downloads are repeated on 3 partitions. If I lose one ... I have the other two. It's not be design it's just the way it happened. I keep reorganizing my files and right now I work with one drive. I may blow away the other two and back up what I have once instead of twice.

Nothing wrong with a $100 investment of an external drive.

And a side note for designers - it's nice to put some descriptor on the model of who you are :D
