Christmas ideas

I came across this site a few weeks ago. It's mainly geometric shapes to make - A great stellated dodecahedron anyone?

Most are just the patterns that can be folded into interesting shapes. I made a few of the above on white paper then covered them with "Decopatch" - basically thin paper with small patterns.

I also liked their "Kaleidoscopes" This section has a collection of patterned shapes. These are quite easy to make but the more "spikes" you have the more complicated they become.

They all come as downloadable PDFs and some of them will appear on one of the Christmas trees I've been asked to "dress" in the house where I work.

Go to

https://www.korthalsaltes.com/

for the PDFs

Cheers
Mike

A few years ago I took one of the online twelve sided (dodecahedron?) which originally had pictures of super heroes and repainted it to have family pictures on each face. I poured some rice in them to add weight and gave them as Christmas gifts. They were very well received.

Yep, that korthalsaltes site is a great resource for polyhedra.

If you like kaleidocycles this site allows you to upload four photos to put on one:
FoldPlay Home!
They are neat knick-knacks to give out.
