Model Railroads and Card Modeling
"The O Scale Resource" is an online publication. Their latest issue contains two articles devoted to card modeling.

(Plus, there's links to free models!) David Meek's fantastic Thunder Mesa Mining Co. Is inspired by Disneyland's Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, the old Nature's Wonderland Railroad and even nods to Knott's Berry Farm's Calico Mine Ride and John Allen's Gorre & Daphetid. I have seen Dave Meek's Thunder Mesa Mining Company layout up close and personal. He is truly an artist.
I complimented him on his model work, and especially his artistry with the undertaker's office/Boot Hill cemetery. He said his biggest reason for card modeling was the he "could get details you just can't get with plastic and paint".

Yes, Don -- these two articles are a great introduction for those unfamiliar with paper models, and the photos are superb. I hope many readers of this magazine gain an appreciation of our wonderful hobby and try a couple models. Who knows, maybe we may get a few new members! :-)
By the way, note that the free semi-trailer download is only available for three weeks, so don't delay! I'm looking forward to future issues, as the second article starts a four-part series. Looks like we'll have a chance to "re-arrange the deck chairs of the Titanic" in two months... ;-) David T. Okamura

Back in the 70's when I was still a teenager, I subscribed to Railroad Model Craftsman magazine, and it had templates for doing models from card and styrene sheet. In those days, these were still painted, but card models were around back then
