In fact, the Blinov tractor was only a product of the Soviet Stalinist propaganda in the late 1940s. In fact, it did never exist. Blinov had got a Russian patent for his tractor but the machine itself had never been built. In the period let's say between 1945 and 1960 the Soviet propaganda was desperately seeking pieces of evidence of a purported Russian and Soviet worldwide primacy in scientifical and technical progress. So, the Blinov tractor was only one of many such cases. I remember those attempts very well as in the 1950s and 1960s they taught us kids such things at schools in all the eastern block countries. It was not that easy to deny the success of such inventors like e.g. George Stephenson or Thomas Alva Edison. Thus they had to teach us that not only Edison but also Lodygin or not only Stephenson but also Cherepanov... And the method was very simple: Take 50% true, 45% misinformation and/or myth and 5% lie, mix it, repeat it hundred times and then only wait for a result. The children's brains are flexible. Nevertheless the Robototehnik model looks cool. It would be great in a kind of a what-if steampunk diorama or something like that... Last edited by dedek; 02-20-2019 at 01:44 PM. |

dedek - interesting background. Thank you!
The Robototehnik site has now been locked to the public. Does anyone know who to contact about getting access to it? I have searched the Internet but can find no way to do this.

Well, I hope I won't be lynched if I recommend you to utilise the fishy Russian webpages like Pirate Site or Pirate Site. In my defence I'd like to state that even the pirate pages may refer to legal sources... By now the almost complete Robototehnik collection is available for download from depositfiles and similar file servers linked via the mentioned usual suspects.

You are not getting lynched, you did get edited.
For all we know, and are aware of, the Robototehnik page and files are only available on VK, and we must honor the wishes of the designer/administrator and their decision to limit access. Rick

Most likely a result of Chinese pirates stealing the models to sell. If it isn't nailed down, they take it and run.
